Last night we played at Halyard's again and debuted our new song, Cities in Flame. Michelle wrote the lyrics and I played a cowbell in it! It was also great to play with our friends, The Catch again. Everything was going okay, except for this guy who MANSPLAINED us about our sound. It infuriated me very much. I told him which channels we were on the PA, but he ignored me, and proceeded to check for himself. He also told us to turn down, up, sing, move the settings on our equipment etc. We are capable of doing this all by ourselves. I really don't mind the help, but people have to do it in a nice way, not a demeaning, condescending manner. We didn't even ask for his help. I knew he wasn't the sound guy; he said he was the father of a student. I also knew he wasn't going to stick around for our set, (which he didn't) so why even bother checking the sound? What a jackass!
Last night, we played the Cobra Club with Max and Geordie. The Cobra Club is a music venue, bar and yoga place in Bushwick, my old neighborhood! It was fun to perform there. Tracy and Matt, the employees were very nice and they had a full back line, so we didn't have to bring our big ass equipment! Well, except me, I always have to bring my heavy cymbals, kick pedal and snare. We played a decent set, and I was happy that our consistent practicing payed off! I came in there confident and relaxed! Max played his solo set, which sounded so magical to me. He also recorded Geordie's album and played his Rick bass (swoon!) with him on stage. He is so talented!
